Hi!

I am starting this fundraising to help me with my PhD scholarship application.

I love all technical stuff, languages and teaching and I would like to research how Virtual Reality can be used to facilitate easier language learning with voice recognition and proper curriculum. This would mean that everybody could learn to speak a language in truly immersive and authentic situation without breaking the bank!!

I finished my Masters last year (2018) and applied for a scholarship to study PhD in China, but it was rejected due to my low Chinese language skills, even when scholarship covers language studies. I work shifts and cannot fully utilise language schools here in Malta due to my work schedule changing every other day.

I have calculated that I would  need at least HSK 4 level to be accepted to the scholarship program which would take around a year to achieve in China.

Cheapest university I have found to do so is Hainan University at Southern China with tuition 13 000 rmb a year (2000$/1700€) and housing the same price for a year. I asked the university for the food prices and it comes around the same with 1000 rmb/ month.

Total amount needed would be around 40 000 rmb a year which is around (6000$/5300€). I can save around 3000 a year and without any help I can achieve this in two years, however the sooner the better with education.
