My Travel Story

My name is Isabelle Maille, 20 years old and an applicant for the art academy in the Netherlands. In my work I use plastic waste and materials of nature to create statues of animals endangerd by extinction. 
I'm very concerned about our planet and animal extinction.
With my work I want to contribute to awareness. 
May 2025 I volunteer at the Sea Turtle Concervation Nusa Penida Bali.

Sea turtles are an endangerd species.
Due to human activities and plastic pollution the turtles are at risk of becomming extinct. I'm going to volunteer at the Sea Turtle Concervation in Bali to help clean up beaches, care for the turtles, raise them so they can be placed back in the wild. Help with education to make people aware. Help set up campaings against plastic pollution and against harversting of the turtle eggs for human consumption.

I chose this project because I love sea turtles, they are the most fabulous and elegant habitants of the worlds oceans and are one of the oldest species alive on this planet. They play a crucial role in the ecosystem and futhermore play a vital role in the health of the worlds oceans by transporting essential nutrients from the oceans to beaches and costal dunes. They also maintain coral reef ecosystems.
Studies show that these animals are keystone species for our enviroment.

We humans have made a big mess of our world, our oceans, our ecosystem;  by polluting it, putting our needs first and thereby neglecting the harm we bring to our world and other speicies.
We need to start living with nature and the animals instead of pretending there is no climatechange, no animal extinction and no worldwide pollution because of our actions. 

Now its time to act. Help me do so! 
This project I'm volunteering is a small but very important link in bringing back balance in the worlds ecosystem.
