My Travel Story

In August 2017, I will be travelling to Austria to work for and study through a not-for-profit college called The English Teacher Training College. This college seeks to bring English education to every school in Austria by 2020 and is currently on track to achieve this goal. How it works is, native English speakers work in Austrian schools, but are not paid. Instead, their housing and TEFL classes and certification are free of charge. It's a six month program and is highly intensive so it is an amazing opportunity. Unfortunately, participants still require food, health insurance and like to see the country they're living in from time to time on weekends and holidays.

I am currently an English teacher in Seoul, South Korea. I will go home for three months before packing up and heading to Austria for my next big adventure. I am doing everything I can to save money while I am here, in order to pay for my flight home and flights to and from Austria, as well as for my expenses while at home and in Austria. On top of this, the student visa for Austria requires I show proof that I have enough money to survive there. To them, this is nearly 800 euros per month. While I will be able to save a fair amount, I fear I won't be able to save quite that much.

I am hoping my dear family and friends, especially those who don't want to spend a lot shipping Christmas gifts to Seoul, would be willing to donate toward this program. I also hope those who don't know me would be so generous as to help. Not only will this certification help further my career goals and this experience help me learn German, but this program will allow me to teach English to children who may otherwise never have the opportunity.

Links to my blog as well as the college I will be attending are included below. Thank you for considering helping my cause.

  • What Am I Doing To Save Money?

Hey guys! I just wanted to post a quick update assuring you I am working for my savings, not depending on crowdfunding alone. In addition to working as an ESL teacher here in Korea, I am also tutoring a bit on the weekends, on my own time. Additionally I have started trying to cut some spending in my daily life.
If you have any great ideas for ways I can make so extra cash here in Korea, let me know!!!
