My Travel Story

by: Cristina-Ioana Stana Start Date: Jan 27, 2018 - End Date: May 26, 2018
I consider myself an artist that wants to discover herself, my spiritual self. And I've always done that best when I pushed my limits and got out of my comfort zone.
I have a strong connection with nature and South-Asian culture, even if I never travelled outside Europe before.
The Sea Turtle Rescue Project in Nusa Penida, Bali, Indonesia, caught my eye when I read the feedback from past volunteers. Not only they were really happy about the help they brought to the community, but also grateful for the friendships and memories they left with. I want to be able to say that about my trip.
One could understand the importance of clean beaches, recyclable products and taking care of the plastic trash. It is unbelievable how tourists - and also citizens of the region - can hurt a beautiful place of the world like Bali is.
I am willing to spend 5 weeks on the Island of Gods. The first week will be spent in Ubud, Bali, for the Orientation days. After this, I am going to spend 2 more weeks in the volunteering project, nursing the sea turtles and helping the community by making the beaches more friendly for the marine animals.  Also, at the end of these 3 - I bet wonderful- weeks, I will start doing Yoga and Meditation in order to discover more about my inner self and my needs, as a project's add-on week. Also, if enough money are received, I consider having an additional week of Adventure, so I can discover the culture and more places outside Ubud and Nusa Penida.
Since I was little, I developed a passion for marine life. I come from Romania, so never have I seen an exotic animal besides in Zoos. I hated to see them caged and sad, in climates that are not proper for them and usually domesticated. I wanted to help them, but at that point there was nothing I could do. Now, I want to protect the animals with the power that I have. I understand the fast world we are living in and how most human beings do not understand the need to save the fauna and flora of this planet.
I am sure that this trip will help me grow and be more responsible; find my inner self and so, my artistic style.
