My Travel Story

Hi, my name is Karina and I am from Kazakhstan. I am currently studying in South Korea, doing my research in International Relations and Politics. 
I have always wanted to do a research in the US, but due to financial struggles it was never possible for me. 
This time I was selected as an exchange student from my university to take a semester abroad. I finally can go to the university of my dreams! 
Despite working hard and saving as much as I can, the cost of flight tickets from Seoul to Charlotte, books, housing, and other expenses is beyond what I can afford right now. I’ve explored scholarships, financial aid, and part-time work, but there’s still a significant gap that I need to fill in order to make my dream a reality.
I come from a very humble background, a small town in West Kazakhstan. Attending university in South Korea is a dream itself!
Education is the key to unlocking my potential, and attending UNC Charlotte will allow me to become the first in my family to earn a college degree. This is more than just a personal milestone—it’s a way to pave the way for others in my community and show that with determination and support, anything is possible.
