My Travel Story

I have a propensity to care for those around me. My career in healthcare started while I was still in high school as a certified nurse's assistant. I subsequently graduated from University and became a registered nurse in 2013. I have volunteered in my local community since I was old enough to drive and have made efforts to continue volunteering into adulthood. I STILL remember the first time I saw the ocean! I was an 18 year old freshman in nursing school who signed up to clean a beach in California. I was absolutely amazed at the sheer size of the ocean and at how much waste was just laying around on the shore.

Over the last decade, I've made numerous journeys back to the ocean on various coasts observing marine life but not without seeing the impact of plastic pollution as well. My goal in participating in this conservation effort through International Volunteer HQ is to provide one more helping hand in the underwater clean-up that reduces such contamination. I want to be part of that active assistance in restoring the natural state of the marine ecosystem of Catalonia, and the wider Mediterranean, to make sure it survives and thrives for many years to come!

  • Birthday

    Birthday
    Today was my birthday!! Worked, walked my dog, ate dinner and sat down to practice my Spanish for this trip. It was a good way to spend a birthday but not the way I expected to spend it...
    I had a positive COVID-19 test. I'm fully vaccinated as a healthcare provider and am a firm believer in handwashing, but this is the 3rd time I've gotten the infection.
    Looking forward to a full recovery and thanking people for their amazing contributions to my volunteer journey ahead!
