My Travel Story

by: Areesha Rahman Start Date: Oct 30, 2024 - End Date: Apr 29, 2025
Hello! My name is Areesha Rahman. I’m a third-year pre-law student at The University of Texas at Austin, majoring in Government with a minor in Business Administration. Originally from Cypress, Texas, I’ve also had the privilege of living in both Bangladesh and Canada, which has instilled in me a passion for cultural diversity and international experiences. When I’m not busy with school or work, you can find me thrifting, enjoying concerts, or diving into a good book.

I’m reaching out because I have an exciting opportunity to work in a legal internship abroad in Barcelona, Spain! This internship would not only allow me to deepen my understanding of international law but also immerse myself in Spanish culture and further develop my Spanish language skills.

My journey in the legal field began at Scott, Douglass, and McConnico LLP, where I’m currently working as a legal runner, gaining hands-on experience in a fast-paced law firm environment. This role has been invaluable, teaching me the importance of attention to detail, efficient communication, and the inner workings of the legal field, all of which have solidified my passion for law and justice.

In Barcelona, I’ll have the chance to explore how legal systems operate within a global context and learn from leading legal professionals in Spain. I’m especially excited to apply my knowledge from my Government and Business studies at UT Austin to this international setting. The experience will undoubtedly enhance my understanding of how the law shapes communities worldwide, while helping me build a network with other aspiring lawyers and global professionals.

This internship comes with expenses for travel, accommodations, and daily living costs. I would be so grateful for your support in helping me achieve this dream. Any contributions you can offer will help me expand my legal expertise, build cultural fluency, and prepare for a meaningful career in international law.

Thank you for considering helping me take this next big step toward my future in law!

Best,
Areesha
