My Travel Story
From Combat Veteran, to Single Dad, to Struggling Entrepreneur:
I am hoping to slow down and take care of my mental health for the first time in twenty (23) years which will allow me to network, regroup, reset and recalibrate as I build a consulting firm which is dedicated to the betterment of American Small & Mid-Sized businesses. The intent is to step away and then get back at it with a clear and motivated mind.
As I work to build this (Certified-Service-Disabled-Veteran-Owned) business with limited support, my awesome Therapist strongly advises me to slow down and take multiple trips and "get out more" which I currently cannot budget for (due to a few unforeseen circumstances).
MY STORY:
There once was a naive and trusting young man who thought this all of his dreams would come true, thought that everyone in the world 'meant him well' just because he was a great person. After having his college scholarships sabotaged by a jealous father, he'd "bounce-back" through serving his country.
The military life moved so fast that he literally accepted what was thrown at him, and as he'd finally catch up with the fast-paced military life, he'd bring kids into the world, get married and then after a hard decision to separate, he'd be thrusted right into military combat (3 deplyments, Iraq [2] afghanistan [1]). Susequently, his civilian life became all about his two growing kiddies as he'd find work in the federal government while working, raising his kids as a single dad. Now that he's put both of his kids in college, he ignores his own internal needs while praying that he has the correct words of advice to offer his college daughter and son, as they call home for life advice (which he loves).
This man is me and I've learned that if I don't slow down and do something to recalibrate me, I won't be of any (positive) service to my family, community or the world.
