My Travel Story

Hi my name is Daisy Maddox and I am currently a freshman student at Santa Barbara City College! I've traveled quite a bit within the United States but have always felt a strong desire to travel to and explore other countries as well in order to immerse myself in various cultures so that I may have a better understanding of our world and the people in it. I've always believed you can only gain so much knowledge from books or websites; the best way to truly know something is to experience it for yourself, and that is what I intend on doing. This summer I plan to travel with SBCC's study abroad program to Paris, France where I will be studying 19th century art history as well as architecture. By studying abroad, I will have the opportunity to study in a foreign nation and take in the allure and rich culture of Paris (something I have always dreamed of doing), where I will hopefully be able to discover myself along the way. Not only will I gain language skills, a great education, and career opportunities; but I will also acquire more interests, life-long friends, and a new perspective of the world. This will be a life changing experience for me, but this experience comes at a price.
