My Travel Story

Hello! I have been accepted to participate in a Volunteer Abroad trip through International Volunteer HQ (IVHQ) to go to San Jose, Costa Rica on July 17 and volunteer in the Animal Care and Childcare Projects for two weeks. Now that I am getting out of the Army I want to have a chance to discover myself, travel, and make an impact on other people's lives even if it's just a little bit at a time. I think that starting with this volunteer program this summer would be a great start for me.

There was a huge variety of volunteer programs to choose in Costa Rica, I had quite a difficult time choosing but I have a huge heart for animals, and I think it would be a great experience to help with children as well. I chose Costa Rica as my location for a few reasons. One being, I've always wanted to go there. It's been a dream of mine to travel to Costa Rica for a while now. But also I think getting to experience the culture in Central America would be a great time for me. While volunteering, I also hope to learn a lot more about the culture and pick up a little bit of Spanish skills.

The reason for this site is to help raise money for the program fees, as well as for the travel expenses to go volunteer there! A majority of volunteers involved with IVHQ use some type of fundraising or scholarship to go; this is one of the most common forms of fundraising. 

IVHQ is a very affordable volunteer abroad program. However, it all adds up, and this site will determine my ability to fulfill this dream of mine to make a difference for the locals children and animals in Costa Rica.

Any help would be much appreciated, and any funds over my asking amount will be donated to the animals or the location of the children that I assist with while on my trip.
