by: Mathew Rumang Start Date: Mar 11, 2025 - End Date: Jul 10, 2025
I am Mathew Rumang, a graduate in economics at Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak and would like to apply for funding support to conduct research on rice cultivation in Vietnam in July 2025. This research aims to examine rice cultivation techniques produced in Vietnam and the potential to improve rice in the face of climate change challenges, water scarcity, and the need for effective food production.

Research Objectives:

1. Analyze rice farming practices used by farmers in Vietnam, including traditional and modern techniques.

2. Investigate the impact of climate change on rice production, especially in areas that experience frequent droughts and floods.

3. Recommend improvement strategies to increase yields, based on field studies and data collected.

4. Investigate the economic impact on the rice farming community in Vietnam and the potential for expanding the rice farming sector to a better level.

Funding Requirements:

To ensure the smooth running of this research, I need funding to cover the various costs involved, including but not limited to:

1. Travel and accommodation costs in Vietnam

2. Purchase of research equipment and materials required for the field study

3. Payment for local research assistants and expert consultants

4. Data collection and analysis, and reporting of research results

The total funding required for this project is $5000 funding required.

Why This Research Is Important:

Vietnam is one of the leading rice producers in Asia and the world. However, the country's rice farming sector faces various challenges, including climate change, a shortage of young labor, and a reliance on traditional farming techniques that may not be able to meet future needs. This research is expected to provide deeper insights into how Vietnam can increase rice yields in a more efficient and sustainable way, while reducing negative impacts on the environment.

I believe that the results of this research can make a significant contribution to improving rice farming practices in Vietnam and in regional countries. I also hope that this research can open up opportunities for further collaboration between our party and the academic community and the agricultural industry.

I respectfully request funding support from those of you who sincerely donate funds to make this research project a success.

Thank you for your attention and support.
