Berkeley High students are going to the Dominican Republic!
My Travel Story
We are a group of twenty-eight 10th and 11th grade students from the International program (BIHS) at Berkeley High School, a public school located in Berkeley, CA. The educational approach of BIHS is dynamic, as it aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable, and caring teens who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. Students enrolled in the program are expected to meet rigorous academic standards as well as invest many hours in community service.
This Spring Break (March 31-April 8), we will travel to The Dominican Republic with Rustic Pathways. For eight days we will be immersed in the local culture of Jarabacoa, a small mountain village. We will commit ourselves to vital community projects, such as an aqueduct project that brings fresh water to homes in the village.
There are many expenses associated with a trip such as this. The funds raised will ensure that 100% of the students applying to volunteer in the Dominican Republic are able to participate in this extraordinary trip.
