Hello friends and family! Thank you for visiting my campaign page. Whether you can donate or not, I still, very much, appreciate your support and prayers!

As most of you know, I am a Master of Social Work student at North Carolina State University. I have been presented with the opportunity to study abroad this summer, in Accra, Ghana. How awesome is that?!! This will be an awesome opportunity for me to earn 6 credits while learning, exploring a foreign country, and developing the confidence to be independent and adapt in a new setting. I am a student with a willingness to learn and engage with different cultures. I completed my first semester of graduate school with a 4.0 GPA. I have been invited to join the Phi Alpha Social Work National Honor Society and I am a recipient of the Human Resources and Services Administration Scholarship.

My fellow graduate students and I will be exploring Ghana from June 13-July 1, which is 2.5 weeks. This is a one-in-a-lifetime opportunity for me, as I have not been able to travel abroad in my previous studies due to financial barriers. While studying in Ghana I expect to create relationships, try new food, learn about the culture and the societal issues that their citizens face.

My program's total cost is $7,250. Which includes; tuition and fees ($4,375), Airfare, Meals, Visa permit and Immunization costs. I have received $1,500 from applying to the Africana Studies Scholarship through NC State. For this award, I am required to study abroad in Africa or a country related to the African diaspora. Upon completion of the study abroad program, I am also required to submit a report to Dr. Stephen Ferguson detailing my experiences. I am hoping to receive financial assistance through the financial aid office, but that is not guaranteed.

I sincerely thank you for any donations in advance. Please continue to keep me in your prayers as I travel to Ghana and back home.

Thank You!

Gratefully,
-Alexis J.
