My Travel Story

by: Savana Yurick Start Date: Aug 27, 2019 - End Date: Oct 18, 2019
My name is Savana Yurick, and I just graduated with a major in Political Science and a minor in Psychology. I plan on attending Law School in the year of 2020, and until then, I will be working and raising money to give myself the opportunity to volunteer in as many countries as possible.

Originally, I was eager to start my year of service with AmeriCorps NCCC and wanted to dedicate my year to helping others. However, after gaining more information about the program, I realized it wasn't for me. I still wanted to participate in volunteer opportunities and work with those who really needed it, making an impact in people's lives worldwide. I came across Love Volunteers and realized I could do exactly this through the nonprofit organization.

It has been my dream for years to travel to Thailand and help those less fortunate. Through Love Volunteers, I can work with at risk children in Chiang Mai, many of whom suffer from extreme poverty due to neighboring conflict in Myanmar. Many families and children seek refuge in the city. During my 4 weeks there, I would be able to offer an escape from the cycle of violence and poverty to the children in the city, providing services such as childcare, inter-cultural exchange, and compassion to those who don't receive enough.

So I ask you all, help me to help them. The more money I raise for each trip, the more trips I can go on and the more good I can do in countries around the world. This is the first trip I am fundraising for, but I am hoping to go on at least two more before I start Law School.  Every donation counts, and I guarentee I will do everything I can to make the greatest amount of impact with those I work with while I am in Thailand and the other countries I visit.

Thank you :)
