My Travel Story

by: Annalisa Tebaldi Start Date: Jul 11, 2019 - End Date: Jul 10, 2020
Hello there!
I'm a 24 years old Italian girl. I've studied Humanities for 3 years but last year I quit University because of some troubles I had in my life. I was feeling wrong, depressed and, most of all, unhappy. During that time, I was keeping wondering about leaving everything to travel around the world which has always been my biggest dream, so I decided to improve my English and plan a solo trip through Europe.
Now, after a year, I'm ready to take the plunge and leave.
Basically, the plan is... no plans. I really would like to rediscover the beauty of the Unpredictable. After all, life should be a bit like this, shouldn't it? Just get whatever will happen.
Of course, a minimum of arrangement is necessary, so... here is my "5W+1 Q&A" list:

1. WHO?
Just me and my backpack. It's a solo trip.

2. WHAT?
- Getting out of my comfort zone and growing up humanly.
- Discovering amazing places, new cultures and people while volunteering in different European countries.
- Writing about my trip.
- Being happy and enjoying life in between.

3.WHEN?
As soon as possible. The duration of the trip mostly depends on the funds I manage to raise.

4.WHERE?
Through all the Europe. In particular, I'd love to visit Scandinavia, Iceland, the Balkans, Andalusia, the wild coastline of Portugal and much more!

5. WHY?
As Baudelaire writes:
"The true voyagers are only those who leave
Just to be leaving; hearts light, like balloons,
They never turn aside from their fatality
And without knowing why they always say: "Let's go!"

6. HOW?
As regards the means of transport, I'd prefer to take trains, buses and ferries, both because they're cheaper than a plane and because there's something special in moving slowly: it allows you to think, read or just look out the window, enjoying not only the destination but even the travel itself.
For my stays, I'll use websites like Workaway, WWOOF, Helpx, Couchsurfing and others; that means I'm going to work and volunteer for local people in exchange for free accommodation and food. This includes different kind of help, such as working in hostels, housekeeping, gardening, babysitting, teaching my own language or, why not, cleaning up beaches from plastic litter. It sounds amazing!

I really want to thank those of you who will contribute to making this project possible.
I intend to open a blog or a Facebook page very soon so that I can tell you more about all the stuff. Any updates will be posted below, so stay tuned folks!

Happy life to all of you!
