Join me in supporting the Aeta Tribe for lasting change!
My Travel Story
Dear Friends,
My name is Melissa Jones, and I'm currently in the Philippines researching and documenting the lives of the Indigenous Aeta Tribe. During my time here, I've been fortunate to assist the Aeta community by providing much-needed food and medicine. However, the challenge remains to secure long-term support for them.
I'm reaching out to you with a heartfelt plea on behalf of the Aeta tribe in the Philippines, a community that has faced historical discrimination and ongoing challenges with food shortages. The Aeta people, one of the country's Indigenous communities, have long endured marginalization and have struggled to access basic necessities.

The Aeta people, one of the country's Indigenous communities, have long endured marginalization and have struggled to access basic necessities.
As I've witnessed firsthand, these challenges have only been exacerbated by recent hardships, leaving many Aeta families in dire need of support. Many are facing food insecurity, with limited access to nutritious meals essential for their health and well-being.The Aeta children are particularly vulnerable to frequent eye infections, which pose a serious risk of blindness.
I am asking for your compassion and generosity to support our efforts in providing immediate relief to the Aeta community. Your donations will directly contribute to purchasing essential food supplies and eye medication for the children of these resilent families.
Together, we can make a meaningful difference in alleviating their hardships and ensuring they have access to the resources they need to thrive. Your support is invaluable and deeply appreciated.
Thank you for considering this urgent cause and for any contribution you can make.
I believe that by documenting the Aeta tribe's rich culture and traditions, I can raise awareness about their struggles and the beauty of their way of life. My goal is to share their stories with a wider audience, fostering appreciation and support for their community. I also aim to collaborate with local leaders to identify their needs and provide resources, whether through education, sustainable tourism, or health initiatives, to empower the Aeta people and preserve their heritage for future generations.

My passion for this project stems from a deep respect for indigenous cultures and the belief that every community deserves to have its story told. The Aeta tribe represents resilience, wisdom, and a profound connection to nature that is increasingly rare in our modern world. By documenting their lives, I hope to honor their traditions and ensure that their voices are heard. This project is an opportunity to not only learn from the Aeta but also to stand in solidarity with them, amplifying their message and supporting their fight for recognition and rights.
I chose to focus on the Aeta tribe because they embody a unique and rich cultural heritage that is at risk of being overlooked. Their deep-rooted connection to the land and their sustainable practices offer valuable lessons in environmental stewardship. Visiting their community allows me to learn firsthand about their way of life and the challenges they face, creating a meaningful connection that extends beyond mere observation. It is a destination that resonates with my values and desire to contribute positively to a community that has so much to teach us.
This project holds immense personal significance for me. It represents a convergence of my passion for cultural preservation, social justice, and environmental awareness. Working with the Aeta tribe allows me to engage deeply with their community and learn about their rich traditions, fostering a sense of empathy and understanding. This experience challenges me to reflect on my own life and the broader societal issues we face. Ultimately, it is about building bridges and creating a legacy of respect and appreciation for the diverse cultures that make up our world.
