My Travel Story

by: Priscilla Paredes Start Date: Nov 30, 2017 - End Date: Dec 29, 2017
Welcome everyone and thank you for taking the time out to visit my fundmytravel page. My name is Priscilla and I am a senior student in the Social Work Program at the College at Brockport, with a minor in Spanish. There is a high demand for Spanish speaking social workers in the Rochester area and I hope to give back to the community. This is a large reason why I want to focus on not only honing my Spanish but actually experiencing the language.

This winter I hope to embark on a new, life-changing experience by studying at the Universidad Internacional (UNINTER) in Cuernavaca, Mexico . This program involves everything I would want to experience, from the education on campus at the UNINTER to the daily life of a Mexican student. With this program, I could build my knowledge of the Spanish culture and improve my speaking, writing and communication abilities. Continuing my education in Mexico can fill in those gaps of understanding the perceptions of those in that section of the world.

This program includes tuition, housing with Spanish-speaking families, meals per week, program acceptance fee, pre-departure orientation materials, on-site orientation upon arrival in Mexico, Brockport's study abroad office services, field trips, SUNY international health insurance, various campus-specific fees, such as college fee, technology fee, etc. However, there is separate cost that the program does not include, which is, airfare to and from Mexico, passport, textbooks and supplies, additional meals, personal expenses, and local travel. I hope to have your support on raising funds for these expenses to be able to take this opportunity of a lifetime.

Thank you ALL!
