My Travel Story

by: Sean Wright Start Date: Mar 30, 2016 - End Date: Mar 29, 2017
Hello world. My name is Sean Wright. I need your help.

In July 2017 I will be undertaking the greatest challenge of my life. I am going to Nakuru, Kenya with African Adventures to volunteer. In this effort, I hope to make a long lasting difference to one of the world's most deprived communities.

The aim of our trip is to help these communities become self-sufficient and provide a future for every child. Despite Nakuru being one of  Kenya's largest and most thriving cities, many still live in absolute poverty. The local dumpsite is home to entire families. The school lunch is often the only meal that many children will get that day.

During my time I will be building and restoring school and community facilities, as well as teaching, coaching sport, and above all, learning from many of the disadvantaged infants.

Unfortunately, this adventure comes at a cost. At this time I am currently arranging some fundraising events, which you can follow on my Facebook page. Until I leave I will be endeavouring in all sorts of way to come up with the amount I need to go. The current target is £1900. A sizeable percentage of your donations will be going as direct aid and project funding. What remains will allow me to provide my services in improving the lifestyle of children from underprivileged backgrounds for generations to come.

For now, there is a long journey ahead that I want to share with you. Check the updates now for any fundraising events and I hope we can make our world better together. I thank you in advance.

P.S if we reach the total I WILL SHAVE MY HEAD.

Throughout the duration of this campaign I will be "moving" for 1000 MILES.

Those of you who have read my Facebook page ( http://www.facebook.com/helpmehelpkenya2017 ) will be aware that I am part of a relay team, covering the direct distance between London and Nakuru. I will be running, cycling, activitying etc. for 1000 miles.

Currently I have 981 miles to go and I am loving it, for now at least. I am sure by the end I will be certain that the girl that the Proclaimers were writing about was someone very special!
