My Travel Story

Hello everyone! We are a same-sex couple from a middle-east country. We have been together since 2010. We met online and fall in love just with talking each other. At first, both of us prefered to be anonym because we were shy, but after few months talking; we encouraged each other and decided to meet. And that was the best decision we've ever made. At first, it was so hard to open our relationship to family and friends, and not everyone was supportive. But we didn't care and didn't let any people to affect our love. We always stand behind each other.

Our country has strict rules so we couldn't(still after all those years) even hold hands at the street. Beside that, we couldn't even get married in our country. So after few years saving money; we went to UK and got married there. UK was the only country that gives us a chance to marry even we both not a resident at that times. Those days while we were in UK, like up in the clouds. For the first time, we felt free! We could hold hands at the street and didn't have to hide our love from anyone! No one was judgemental to us and that was like a dream. After we get married, we wanted to stay longer at there to take our chances. We thought maybe we both could find a job so we could permanently live there. But we learnt that our visa type wasn't suitable for that; and we need so much money, plan and time to change that visa type.

After we turned back to our country, our only goal was save money for going to UK and live there. But nothing went like as we expect... We always had to hide our relationship and marriage in our country from lots of people. Only few people are in our inner circle and they're mostly family. Cause when we tried to be transparent, we lost our jobs several times after people learnt about our marriage. And we couldn't find jobs for so long.

Those days were like nightmare, our everyday was a struggle. That's why after few years struggle, we decided to keep things between us so we could live(!). We both felt sicked and tired about people's judgements or weird glances to us. That is not fair to live like a shadow and makes us sad but in our country, we don't have much chances. We found jobs eventually, but our salary barely cover our montly expenses. So we end up with no savings, no visa, not a chance to live a free country. So what I need from you is a chance to change our life circle.

This is so important for me, I hope I could make myself clear. We want to go back to UK, find jobs, and live there as free! We need to spend 5-6 months in UK so we could find proper jobs and get residence permit. For that, we have to proove ourselves to UK government that we have expenses to live there until we find a job.
