My Travel Story

Thank you for taking time to visit my page!

Just like you, I’m passionate about making the world a better place. That's why I'm so excited that I will be interning and studying public health in India this summer! Specifically, I will be learning how local non-profits and hospitals improve the health of mothers and children in poverty. I have visited India once before and I'm honored to be going back. 

My eyes of global public stem from my study abroad experience in 2017 through Semester at Sea. During this journey we traveled to Germany, Spain, Ghana, South Africa, India, Myanmar, Vietnam, China, and Japan. My time in India was one of the most substantial times of my life.

We went to a large orphanage to see how the non-profit operated and changed lives. I met a little girl named Diya who would not leave my side, the director told me that her mother had passed during birth. We spent the whole day playing and talking about her dreams of becoming a doctor. As we parted ways and hugged goodbye she put a bracelet on my wrist and told me, " We are the same, we are sisters." This may have been one of the most touching things that had ever happened to me. As I left I told myself that I would never forget that moment. When I returned home I knew I wanted to go back to India and immerse myself in their incredible culture. 

As many of you know I am putting myself through my undergraduate degree at the University of Oregon and I will be the first in my family to graduate from college! Now I'm ready to start working towards my career goals and preparing for graduate school. This internship will be an incredible opportunity to develop my personal and professional goals of working for a large health organization such as the World Health Organization or Partners in Health.
