Greece has lived in my imagination for as long as I can remember — not as a postcard ideal, but as a place where history, culture, flavour, and landscape meet in profound ways. This journey represents a chance to step beyond the familiar and experience a civilisation that has shaped the world in lasting and meaningful ways.

Athens draws me for its depth and significance. It is a city where ideas were born in open spaces, where democracy first took form, and where philosophy, art, and architecture still speak across centuries. I want to walk through ancient streets, stand beneath the Acropolis, and explore sites where human thought and creativity reached extraordinary heights. Experiencing these places in person offers a connection that goes far beyond reading or research — it allows history to be felt, not just understood.

Mykonos offers a striking contrast. Where Athens is anchored in antiquity, Mykonos reflects the living, breathing culture of modern Greece. I want to experience the slower rhythm of island life, take in the dramatic coastal scenery, and immerse myself in everyday moments that define local identity. From traditional tavernas and regional dishes to conversations with locals and the shared joy of communal spaces, Mykonos represents culture as something lived rather than preserved.

Together, Athens and Mykonos embody the diversity that draws me to Greece. Ancient and contemporary, urban and island, reflective and vibrant — each offers a different lens through which to understand the country and its people.
