My Travel Story

This year I turn 40 and I have been reflecting a lot on this important rite of passage. For me, 40 will mark an acceptance of my younger self and become a touchstone as I transition into later adulthood with more wisdom and self-awareness.

Recognizing that I love you all so very much I also want to honor myself and not host a big ol party. I prefer smaller social gatherings, deep conversations, and intimate exchanges with people that I love and would love to make dinner plans with every one of you! I also know that I do not need any more material objects and feel grateful for the simple things that already exist in the life I am building.

However, I certainly miss traveling. There is something about new places and faces that fills me with curiosity, determination and wonder. Both COVID and grad school payments halted my travels. But as I near the end of my studies I decided there was no truer, more authentic way to honor myself as I mark the page on the calendar. I also realize it can be difficult to give our adult friends tangible gifts and so this vacation fund is something that I will both use and be ever grateful for.

No gift is too small and all gifts are greatly appreciated. Here’s to another wild and curious trip around the sun!
