My Travel Story

by: Alex Smith Start Date: Sep 25, 2017 - End Date: Jan 24, 2018
Ever since I arrived at FSU, I have wanted to participate in the Study Abroad program. My insatiable interest in history and my goal to become fluent in Spanish  make FSU's Valencia program perfect for me. The very idea of living in Spain, a country with over a thousand years of recorded history, is incredibly exciting. I’ve always dreamed of living in Europe, and being able to walk down a street where every building is hundreds of years old. For example, the building that now acts as FSU’s Study Center in Valencia was built hundreds of years ago, when the Moors still controlled Southern Spain.
In essence, I believe that the Valencia program will assist me in my development as a student of history. Furthermore, I will be able to take computer science classes through the FSU International Program’s affiliation with the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia. This will allow me to explore the idea of programming languages as universal languages that assist in breaking down the boundaries of spoken language. This is important to me because it is a topic that I am interested in pursuing in grad school; I would like to study the use of computer science in studying new languages.

Any money donated will go towards living expenses/cost of the program.
Thanks for reading and donating!
