My Travel Story

by: Chelsea Correia Start Date: Jul 12, 2016 - End Date: Jan 11, 2017
My name is Chelsea and I'm currently an honors student at UMASS Dartmouth, majoring in both Graphic Design and Photography.  I was recently accepted into a program through my university that will allow me to study for four months in Florence, Italy at the Florence University of the Arts in the Spring. I've wanted to study abroad since I had learned about the idea and am extremely excited that I'm able to make my long standing dream a reality; it is undoubtedly the opportunity of a lifetime. Unfortunately due to financial circumstances, I have never left the country before, only visiting a handful of states along the East Coast. It is an adventure I am eager to take part of but I know and understand it will be a difficult process. I have worked part time since I was 14 and have remained a full time student until the present. I've been working all summer in order to help fund my trip, but could use a little help along the way. Applying for a passport, booking a flight, classroom lab fees, and other expenses have added up and I would whole heartedly appreciate any help I could get. I understand how crazy life can be, so this is only an outlet for me to ask for anything, including tips on saving money and planning, and any other travel advice. I am going to give this all I have, and I cannot wait for the life changing experiences this year may have in store for me.
