My Travel Story

Malawi is one of the poorest countries in the world, with over half of the population living below the poverty line and an average daily income of less than 50 pence.

Many schools have a ratio of between 100 and 150 students to each permanent teacher, so these schools really need support. Through teaching and sports you can make a real difference to the lives of the local children. I will be helping and supporting teachers at a rural school in the mornings and gettting involved with sports coaching in the afternoons.

Only basic equipment is available for sports and due to the climate, the conditions and everyday use the teams are always in need of new items. I am hoping to be able to bring footballs and cricket equipment with me. It will be very much appreciated by the school.

I know I will learn so much from this experience and sincerely hope those kind enough to  host me in Malawi will be glad that I was able to spend a month with them, thanks to the generosity of everyone - Lindum Cricket Club, my friends, neighbours, work colleagues and family - who supported my trip.
