My Travel Story

Dear family, friends, and those I've not yet met...
Ever since I can remember I have wanted to travel. I've wanted to visit the world. To experience life in another country and help people from all cultures and places in whatever way I can.
Mum and Dad were both travellers. They travelled around the world when they were younger and always helped the communities in which they found themselves. Hearing their stories and the people they've met and helped; sparked my curiosity from an early age, to travel and help those less fortunate.
I guess that's what really excited me about this trip with Antipodeans. The opportunity to not only work with other kids from school to design the itinerary and lead the trip, but to actually spend time giving back, experiencing and working with other cultures, and helping people who really need it.
This trip will be fun, but more than that; I hope it will be an experience that will help me discover more about myself, help me grow in my confidence and leadership, help me learn more about others, about the world we live in, and how important living a life to the full is. I really hope that this expedition is the start of a journey of living a life that's 'others and outward focused'.
The 3-week trip is taking place during November and December of 2019, with a team of 15 others students from my school participating and part of my responsibility and commitment to joining the trip was to raise as many of the funds myself. The expedition contains three parts; a trek, a community project that we the students get to choose, and also a few days to visit the country.
I'm currently working part-time, and am looking for other opportunities to raise funds, but anything you can contribute to this trip would be so greatly appreciated.

Cảm ơn bạn (Thank you)
Sebastian.

Updates

  • Update #1.

Hello all! Thanks to your generosity, I was able to pay the first checkpoint. I am now well on my way to earn enough for the trip. At the moment, the team has decided on an itinerary for the expedition. We will leave Brisbane on the first of December and arrive in Hanoi the next day. The plan is to stay there for a night and leave for Sapa then, but it might change and we could take the overnight train after a few hours spent in Hanoi. Sapa is in the north and where we have decided to do both the trek and the community project, but what exactly we will be doing is still a mystery. After Sapa we will head back to Hanoi and then along the coast. We then plan on staying in the south of the country for a few days and then leaving on the 22nd. This expedition will be life-changing and I am so excited to be going. I will be sure to update more as we learn of our trek and community project. Thank you again!
