For the past 5 years the Cabo Delegado Province have affected by a civil war. This has caused a lot of disturbances as a lot of people including women and children have been forced to move from their destroyed homes and run for safety. They now live in camps with support from other organisations which donated tents and food humpers. However  girl children are now more vulnerable to abuse , child marriages and early pregnancies. Affected families end up selling their daughters into marriages to lessen household number. Some send their young daughters into marriages so as to get bride price or to get connection with better families. Domestically girl children remain vulnerable to sexual abuse by kinsmen or neighbours because of lack of space. The tents they live in can carry up to 12 people of the same family and this promote indecency amongst families and young girls are reportedly falling pregnant.
The visit is to make a close analysis on how the families are living and how the girl child right is respected. To try and arrange ways in consultation with other organisations how to reduce child marriages and all forms of sexual abuse in these camps .
The journey is of 6 members of the Associação Vida Humana, a human right organizations that is working to reduce child marriages in Mozambique.
Cabo Delgado province lies approximately 3000km from Maputo the capital city where the organisation is headquartered.
