Hi everyone! First off, thank you for checking out my campaign page - it means a lot you would consider contributing to this incredible experience I am about to embark on! Secondly, my name is Haley. I am a junior journalism student at Webster Univeristy. My college experience has not been one of a typical college student, but it has shaped me into who I am today. For two years now, I have deeply struggled with mental health, both severe anxiety and depression, which led to a struggle in school and in my personal life. The one thing that has helped in the toughest years of my life is my passion for writing and ever growing love to travel and see the world. Since I was little, I dreamed of nothing more than seeing everything that the world had to offer, from the Eiffel Tower, to Ancient Greece and Rome, to London, and the old European towns in Germany, Austria, and Belgium. I knew no matter how hard things were my desire to travel would never fail and my dream of seeing the world would keep providing me the strength I needed to push through the mental health barriers thrown in my path. Combining both my love of writing and travel, my dream career is to be a global journalist - traveling, writing, reporting, and covering the world. For this trip, I am spending 5 incredible months studying journalism at Webster University in Leiden in the Netherlands. While I am there, I am planning to see as many European countries as I can, ranging from Great Britain and the United Kingdom to Portugal and Spain across the European continent to Greece and the Greek Islands. This trip will provide me with the opportunity to both travel and experience writing and covering each of the different countries I am able to visit. As someone who aspires to be a global journalist, the opportunity to learn about journalism and write while traveling Europe could not be a better way to get first hand experience before jump starting my career as I prepare to graduate the following May. Not only will this trip advance my education, resume, and global journalistic experience, this trip will prove to me that despite the mental health, the struggles with school and personal life, it was worth it to keep pushing through and to not give up on my dreams.
