My Travel Story

by: Avery Lumsden Start Date: Feb 15, 2018 - End Date: Aug 14, 2018
Thanks for making it this far to hear about my story! I'm Avery and I'm a freshman at the University of Georgia pursing a degree is Ecology with a certificate in Sustainability! I also am working on becoming an active global citizen; I want to explore new places and cultures and share my experiences with those around me. I want to challenge myself to become a better person and learn challenging skills that will make me a stronger person. I've got a long way to go but with everything I do that challenges me, I am getting one step closer.

That is where Sea|mester comes into play. Sea|mester is a semester long study abroad program that takes place on a sail boat. Yes, a sail boat. We start in Nice, France and sail around the Mediterranean and then across the Atlantic Ocean to the Caribbean and end up in Antigua all while learning how to sail AND taking college classes. This experience is truly a once in a lifetime experience, but I need your help.

I need your help to help create a global citizen that will foster peace among all and teach love for the natural world and the importance of preserving it. This trip is costly, but with a few (okay a lot) of small donations it will be possible for me to learn a new skill, see more of the world, and meet more people. Please consider helping me get from Nice, France to Antigua as it's gonna be hard to swim!!
