In my last year of high school at one of Zimbabwe’s top schools, just weeks before our final exams, one of our two 'A' level physics teachers walked out on us. He refused to continue helping us with our Cambridge exams preparation when we challenged his dismissive attitude—particularly after he claimed that boys were easier to teach because they didn’t ‘complain so much.’ A few of my classmates had simply asked for a ladder problem to be explained again, but that moment made something clear to me: I would never let someone else dictate my place in physics.

Science has given me confidence in myself. It’s easy to self-dismiss, to feel isolated because of our differences, but physics has always been my anchor. At the International Physicists' Tournament (IPT), I get to stand alongside bright students from around the world—each with their own stories and struggles—and together, we bask in the beauty of our common love. We immerse ourselves in the vastness of physics, not just as a subject, but as a lens through which we understand the universe, challenge the unknown, and shape the future. IPT isn’t just about solving unsolved physics problems; it’s about collaborating across cultures and recognising the kind of impactful careers we’re all striving toward.

The IPT is also tied to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, challenging us to develop real-world innovations in a sustainable manner. Representing the United States on such a global stage as an international student is a solid step toward my dream of shaping and engineering public policy; bridging science with meaningful change.

This year, I’ve been selected again to compete on the US team in Warsaw, Poland—but I need your help to get there! Your support will help cover my travel, visa, and accommodation costs, allowing me to stand alongside top students, push the boundaries of problem-solving, and represent underrepresented communities in STEM.

Every contribution brings me one step closer to Warsaw—thank you for being part of this journey!
