I will be based at a diving school with a focus on local environmental protection. I will receive on-site training and lessons and be responsible for participating in underwater clean-up initiatives, learning about the intricacies of the local marine ecosystem, observing and identifying marine wildlife, and collecting vital data on fish numbers. I did not grow up near coastal areas but I have always had a desire to learn about and explore these parts of the world. Therefore, these hands-on experiences are invaluable as they provide a rich understanding of the challenges faced by marine ecosystems and practical strategies for their protection. I aim to translate my knowledge into a tangible educational impact. I plan to integrate my experiences into my classes to engage students in the urgent need for environmental conservation. As a STEM concentration candidate, this program aligns perfectly with my academic goals. I plan to build my knowledge in a practical and hands-on way, especially in a field that I know little about, biology, considering I only have math and physics teachable. This program allows the opportunity for me to be part of something bigger than myself to learn and give back to other communities. Therefore, I aim to learn how to foster a culture of sustainability and ecological awareness so that I can bring back my experience and refer to it when teaching my future students and others.
