My name is Janelle Murchison, and I have been selected based on my outstanding academic performances to participate in the International Scholar Laureate Business & Entrepreneurship Program in Australia. The International Scholar Laureate Program (ISLP) has aided in the success of scholars for over 25 years. Through ISLP, students across the globe have experienced opportunities that allowed first-hand knowledge by talking and interacting with some of the world's best keynote speakers in their field of study, shaping their future.


In December of 2019, I obtained my certificate in Business Administration with a 3.8 GPA average and became a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Sorority. In the Fall of 2020, I will be graduating with my Associates Degree in Business Administration, pursuing my goal of becoming a successful black businesswoman.


Not only am I invested in my academics, but I am also an outstanding community leader, volunteering, and supporting many organizations in my community. My goal is to assist not-for-profit organizations in creating more resources and opportunities for lower-income communities. With first-hand experience of what it is like to live in an exhausted financial district, I am driven to rise above and apply myself to opportunities and experiences that will encourage others in my neighborhood. For others in my community to witness me overcome adversity, is why the opportunity from Scholar Laureate Business & Entrepreneurship Program is so important to me. Representation is a powerful tool of encouragement.

I am asking for my community to help me achieve my goal of raising $4,690 to participate in the prestigious Scholar Laureate Business & Entrepreneurship Program. The funds raised will help me pay for tuition, travel expenses, and my passport.

This opportunity will help me network beyond North Carolina, and into a territory, I thought I would never be able to experience. To achieve my goals, I must learn as much as I can beyond the textbooks and classes at Wayne Community College. This opportunity will help me inspire others from small beginnings as well as teach me different hands-on approaches to the business industry, I can bring back to my community.
