My Journey Toward Freedom: Living Life Before It’s Too Late
My Travel Story
My name is Jay, and I’m starting this fundraiser to help me reach a lifelong dream — to buy an RV and travel across the United States. I’ve been living out of my car for a while now, working hard, saving money, and trying to rebuild my life one day at a time.
This dream isn’t about luxury or escaping reality. It’s about finally living instead of just surviving.

How It All Started
For years, I worked nonstop — long hours, hard labor, six days a week. Landscaping, construction, small side jobs — anything to make ends meet. I was proud to earn my living, but over time, it started feeling like a trap. I was working to pay for a box — four walls, rent, and bills — but never had the time or energy to actually live inside it.
Everything changed when I began caring for my uncle.
He was a good man — quiet, hardworking, and humble. He had worked his entire life, saving for his pension and paying down a mortgage on his home. He was married for 25 years, but only two years into the marriage, his wife left him. Still, because of his Christian faith, he never divorced her.
Years later, when his health began to fail, it was my mother and I who stepped in to care for him. We took turns making his meals, cleaning, helping him bathe, driving him to doctor appointments, and sitting with him when he was lonely. For four years, we tended to his every need. If it wasn’t for us, I truly don’t believe he would have lived that long.
When he passed, I was devastated — not only from losing him, but because of what happened afterward. His wife, who had done almost nothing to help him, suddenly returned. Because she was still legally married to him, she had full rights to everything. She sold the house — the same home my uncle worked his whole life to pay off — and took his pension. She shared the money with her side of the family, people who never once cared for him, visited him, or lifted a finger while he was sick.
I had planned to stay in that home, to finish paying off the mortgage as a way of completing what my uncle started. I wanted to preserve something he worked his whole life for. But instead, it was all taken away overnight.

My Realization
That experience changed me deeply.
It made me realize how fragile life is — and how easy it is to spend your entire life working, saving, and sacrificing, only for other people to benefit when you’re gone. My uncle worked his whole life to retire, only to pass away before he could ever enjoy the peace he earned.
That thought stayed with me.
I didn’t want to be another person who spent decades clocking in and out, paying bills, and waiting for the “right time” to finally live — a time that might never come. I didn’t want to die knowing I never truly saw the world or did the things I dreamed about.
So, I made a decision.
I moved out of my apartment. I sold almost everything I owned — my furniture, my TV, my clothes, everything that didn’t fit into my Jeep. I started living out of my car — a small, old Ford Jeep Cherokee. It’s not much, but it gives me freedom.
Still, it’s small and cramped. I sleep sitting up sometimes. I cook outside when I can. And while I’m grateful for what I have, I know I need something more practical — something that gives me space, comfort, and safety.
That’s why I’m trying to raise money for an RV or motorhome — not for luxury, but for living. A motorhome would give me a bed, a kitchen, a small bathroom, and a place to call my own. It would be like having an apartment on wheels — a way to live simply, travel freely, and explore the country while I still can.

Why This Matters
I’ve been through a lot — from caring for family and losing everything, to rebuilding my life piece by piece. But through all of it, I’ve learned that peace isn’t found in money or things. It’s found in freedom, purpose, and gratitude.
I want to travel across the United States — see the mountains, the deserts, the small towns, and the oceans. I want to meet people, hear their stories, and share my own. I want to volunteer, help others along the way, and remind people that it’s never too late to start living.
Every dollar donated will go directly toward purchasing a reliable used RV or motorhome and covering basic start-up costs like registration, insurance, and minor repairs. I’ve already been saving everything I can from the small jobs I do, but I need a little help to make this dream possible.
This isn’t just about travel — it’s about healing, growth, and living with purpose.

A Final Word
If you’ve ever felt trapped in a routine, stuck between working to survive and dreaming of freedom, then you probably understand where my heart is. I’m not asking for much — just a chance to live life while I still have time, strength, and faith to do it.
Even a small donation can help make that possible. And if you can’t give, sharing my story or sending a few words of encouragement means just as much.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for being part of my journey toward peace, freedom, and a new beginning on the open road.
