My Travel Story

by: Henry Tse Start Date: Feb 19, 2017 - End Date: Aug 18, 2017
With ApplePay, I barely use cash in a typical day. Waving my phone over the Starbucks front desk, beep, and the bank will do the rest. We simply take financial services for granted, we simply can't imaginea world without it. Yet,  hundreds of thousands on the other side of the world lives a world without the modest financial services. By that, I mean the absence of the most fundamental services. They have no means to save, nowhere to get a loan.

Here comes a true story:
Some fruit vendor who cannot afford to pay for the stock will pay in credit to the supplier. For every $10 of fruit they buy in the morning, the suppliers ask for $10.4 by the end of the day. Well, $0.4 seems to be nothing, but it is actually 4% interest every day. In other words, 949392900%  per annum, nothing that we can comprehend. Yet this is only one of the many stories.

The mission is simple, to give the poor access to formal financial service, and I need your help. I will be heading to Panama in the summer for a microfinance project, and I will give my best to reverse the situation. I do need your donation to make this happen, every penny you donated will be used for implementing sustainable financial services for the community.
