Hi everyone! I plan to study abroad in Newcastle, Australia, at the University of Newcastle in the spring of 2023, but I can't do it without your help and support! I am currently a psychology student with a counseling minor at the University of Toledo in Toledo, Ohio. After graduating with my bachelor's degree, I will get a master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, which I also plan to do at the University of Toledo. Counseling is a field of study that requires you to be very worldly to appropriately help clients from varying backgrounds; this is where study abroad comes into play. Studying abroad will allow me to become more worldly by meeting and interacting with other international students. These experiences will be important when I can practice as a licensed clinical psychologist one day. I am very passionate about the potential of this experience, as making new friends abroad will deepen my understanding of myself and other cultures. I have chosen Newcastle, Australia, as my study abroad location because it offers many of the courses I need to graduate. The location is incredible. The school is ranked well, and I feel I would belong there. This trip is significant to me because I will be able to gain a stronger sense of independence, make new friends that I wouldn't meet otherwise, and gain a better understanding of the world.
