Why Your Support Matters

Amelyah has been part of the Riverview Charter School community since kindergarten. For nine years, she has grown in a learning environment built on service, character, and hands-on exploration. At Riverview, Capstone trips are not extras. They are central to how students apply what they have learned in real and meaningful ways.

As she prepares to transition from middle school to high school, this Costa Rica experience represents her final and most significant middle school milestone before her last walk across the Riverview stage. It is both a celebration of how far she has come and a bridge to who she is becoming.

This six-day journey will immerse Amelyah in environmental science, cultural exchange, and community service. She will explore national parks and cloud forests, participate in hands-on service projects, and learn directly from local communities. These experiences will deepen her understanding of sustainability, global citizenship, and leadership. They will shape how she thinks about the world and her role in it.

This opportunity aligns closely with Riverview’s core values:
She will practice optimism as she embraces new challenges.
She will grow in gratitude for the privilege of learning beyond the classroom.
She will develop empathy by connecting with another culture.
She will demonstrate integrity in how she represents her school and family.
She will model stewardship through environmental and service-based learning.
She will strengthen cooperation as she works alongside peers and community members.
She will cultivate mindfulness through reflection and personal growth.
She will build perseverance as she steps outside her comfort zone.

We are passionate about this experience because it is not simply a trip. It is preparation for high school, for leadership, and for life. It is an opportunity for Amelyah to represent her school, her friends, and her family with character and purpose.

The total cost of the trip is $2,659, and our fundraising goal is $2,500. As a family, we are committed to contributing. We are also inviting friends and family to partner with us financially to help make this opportunity possible.

Your support is not just funding travel. It is investing in education, service, and the kind of growth that shapes a young person’s future.

Thank you for considering being part of this important milestone in Amelyah’s journey.
