My Travel Story

Hi! We are nomad!wehappy. We are leaving our jobs, house, friends and family behind in Salt Lake City Utah to travel the USA. We are firm believers in living life to the fullest and experiencing everything you can in this life. We have purchased a 1982 Ford Jamboree and are in the process of fixing her up. We plan to stay in the Salt Lake area for about a year to save up for our travels. In the next year we will actually be living in the 24 ft motorhome with our 3 dogs and cat. We would love to be able to leave sooner for our travels which is why I am creating this page. I figure why not?
Our names are Tory and Courtney. We got married on May 28, 2016. Tory and I have never really fit in to what society labels as "normal". The 9-5 life has just never seemed to fit the way it should into our lives. It seems every chance we get we are spending our extra money trying to run away from that way of life. We are campers! Camping is the only thing that makes us feel whole. It resets us. We found ourselves sitting at the table one day signing up for classes at the community college, trying to figure out what careers would make us most happy. I've always been interested in technical theater and biology but couldn't decide which to choose or if it was even what I wanted to do as a career. Tory just couldn't figure out what he wanted to go for and was getting frustrated. We played the " what makes you happy game" we talked about our hobbies and where we see ourselves in ten years. (Both of us not answering 100% honestly, because how can you camp, spend time traveling, experience everything and do it all comfortably?) let's have kids, let's just work jobs that will make us rich. So that became our plan we paid $70 we didn't really have and signed up for school. It didn't feel right. Something was missing. We aren't made for this. Weeks go by of us putting off orientation and we stumbled upon workingcouples.com and our lives changed! WE CAN DO WHAT!?!?! we can travel in a motorhome and work as camp hosts? That's a thing!?!? And so began the research. We went from website to website, blog to blog, YouTube channel to YouTube channel and we came up with a plan.
You see we never wanted school or kids. We were doing that because it's what we were "supposed to do". We are supposed to have college educations and families. We are supposed to have a nice house and two cars. We are supposed to work everyday and travel once we are retired. Well when I retire at 55-60 I'm going to be,well, tired! I won't enjoy the experience as much as I would if I did it now. Why wait? " To live is the rarest thing in the world. Most people just exist." - Oscar Wilde
