My Travel Story

Hello,

I have been a travel bug since day one. My travelling experiences have shaped me into who I am today.
It has been been fortunate for me that my mother is a flight attendant and has always been an inspiring independent woman in my life. I can honestly say that I am so grateful to have had the experiences I have because of her.
My father has been a role model to work in other countries with less fortunate people. Seeing all the work he does to train firefighters in developing countries makes me interested in volunteering and doing work that improves other's lives.
The people who have brought me into this world have truly helped me on this journey to be able to be in this amazing program. My stepfather also made a huge impact on my life in this direction. He taught me that postivity and patience always gets you furthest. I will continue to have this attitude in his rememberance.

As I write this in my school's library; I am certain that this experience will help me to know where I am going as my graduation in 2019 approaches. I will be trying out various careers, experiencing other cultures and doing work that I am proud of. Because of the diversity of this program, I will be doing a lot of different volunteering work including; installing clean water filters in Cambodia, working with young youth effected by Agent orange in Hanoi Vietnam, cleaning reefs, caring for and rehabilitating elephants in Thailand, teaching English in China and many more life changing work experiences.

This program is aimed for people during university/secondary school, I am differing from high school but will be graduating at the same time as I am supposed to next year! I'm in grade eleven and have gotten the chance to go now, and funny enough it actually works out better. I can take all the grade twelve courses I want and focus on my grades next year even more so after the inspiration from this program. As well as going to school, I work in retail at the moment and just by spreading positivity to all my cutomers, I get a sense of purpose and it makes me feel so great. This trip will be so meaningful to me because of how much I will help make a changes to people who really need that help. The projects I will be working on will change lives. For example, the clean water initiative will change a families life by receiving a water filter which is something that would take the family a lifetime to achieve on their own. These upcoming three months will make a very huge impact on my future because of how it will give me a better perspective on this world and how to do something meaningful.Presently, I am considering  persuing education and work that I am passionate about like Econonomics and Conservation.

Thank you so much for taking your time out to read this. Any assistance that you would like to pledge would be going towards my journey in helping others in need
