My Travel Story

Hi everyone, xin chào mọi người! My name is Jenny Tran, but my family calls me Trúc, which is my Vietnamese name. I am proud to identify myself as a Vietnamese-American. Both of my parents migrated to the US from Vietnam, and I was born here with Vietnamese as my first language. I speak Vietnamese at home.

I have a unique opportunity to go on a job shadowing experience abroad, specifically in Vietnam. The reason for my interest in Vietnam is my passion for Global Health. Living in a first-world country, I feel incredibly fortunate to have access to excellent healthcare services. However, I believe it is crucial to understand and experience healthcare systems in second or third world countries as well.

By immersing myself in a different healthcare environment, I hope to gain valuable insights into the services people around the world receive. I believe this experience will allow me to learn and apply new approaches to my future work in my own community.

One of the reasons I am particularly drawn to Vietnam is my ability to speak the language. This skill will undoubtedly help me navigate and communicate effectively, ensuring a more enriching experience without language barriers. Additionally, this trip will give me the opportunity to visit and explore the country my parents are from, and to connect with their roots.
