My Travel Story

My name is Jessica McDonough and I'm majoring in Agroecology and Sustainable Food Systems at North Carolina State University. I am a first generation student and work as a part-time lab assistant as well. I'm from Goldsboro ,NC.
I've recently been accepted to study abroad in England and Scotland. The study abroad is based on Global Food Systems where we will visit various farms and learn how the United Kingdom food systems work. We will also see hands on the difference in farming techniques in the UK from the US.
This experience will help me tremendously to not only get to learn these experiences first hand, but also give me insight on possibly exchanging to the UK in the future.
I hope to become an International Agriculture Consultant and use my experiences abroad to help farming systems around the world practice environmental friendly practices while feeding our growing population. I also want to take practices and ideas from other countries and improve our farming systems in the US.
This experience means so much to me. Being able to travel and learn information that I am passionate about is an opportunity many people may not get but I am very blessed to have this opportunity and use it to the fullest.
