Hi there!

We are Lea and Anne-Marie, two friends from Luxembourg. We’ve both just finished High School and don’t wanna go to university right away. Instead, we’d like to see and learn as much of the world as we can. For us, doing some volunteering in a foreign country seems to be the best way to achieve this goal. Since we’ve already been to the Philippines three years ago, and had promised ourselves back then to return as soon as possible, our choice was quickly made; We would return to the Philippines and stay there from November to January. So we’ve applied to a volunteering project in Palawan, which will last five weeks. First, we’ll do two weeks of constructional and renovational work, before we’ll finish doing three weeks of environmental work. By the way: did you know that Palawan is known to be the most beautiful island in the world? It sounds nice, but it causes some highly negative side effects. For instance, the extreme tourism strains the amazing nature. And although Palawan is a tourism hot spot, the local people still live in poverty.

After our visit to Palawan, our journey will take us to Dumaguete, where we’ll meet some luxembourgish friends and spend four more weeks together with their local family and friends. We’ll stay with the Catacutan family over Christmas and New Year’s Eve, and celebrate according to the filipino tradition. At some point, we’ll even attend to the wedding of a family member of theirs!

So there will be a lot going on, and we hope you like our plans. Even the smallest generosity matters a lot to us, and we appreciate every single donation!
