My Travel Story

Hey everybody!
     I have been accepted into a study abroad trip in New Zealand for 23 days from May 12 to June 4, 2018. The course I will take is: "SSH 403 Cross-Cultural Studies in Global Health", which will satisfy my study abroad requirement for my Global Health degree! Compared to the other Study Abroad trips, I wanted to go on this one most because of its focus on health, sustainability, environment, and exploring nature.
     While studying global health, I have realized a branch I am most drawn to. I feel passionate about environmental health, in such that certain people need better-built homes and more accessibility to healthy food and clean water. I am full of joy when working with a team on community projects. This trip would give me experience with this in a whole new way, and it will further my understanding of global health and culture in other ways as well. We will explore two islands and six cities including: Auckland, Tauranga, Rotorua, Wellington (LOTR fans...), Blenheim, and Christchurch! In Tauranga we are examining sustainability, environmental, and conservation practices and Maori community-based healthcare, as well as helping with a rainforest restorestation project. I will get to submerge myself in Maori culture and farm living. In Christchurch we will be surveying the results of 2010 and 2011 earthquakes and the damage being reconstructed.
     This trip means so much to me because this is the only time I will be traveling with my Arizona State classmates studying health and exploring a new culture, and it will meet the requirement I need for the Global Health degree I am so blessed to be studying. I feel so excited about working on a team to accomplish health goals for communities, and that is what I aim to do with my Global Health degree.
     I would seriously, wholeheartedly appreciate you contributing a gift of any size to this big dream of mine! Any gift would help and I would be immensely grateful for it!

    Hey!
    Tomorrow on April 8th is my first car wash fundraiser from 11-5! I'll be giving car washes for cash donations and selling homemade chocolate chip cookies for $3 each and homemade lemonade & Starbucks hot/iced coffee $2 a cup!
