Long Distance Relationship: Fund your way into our hearts!
My Travel Story
Welcome to our FundMyTravel page! Do you want to play an essential role in two people's happiness? Do YOU want to create possiblities where none ever seemed to exist. Do *YOU* want to make your own decisions and show yourself by spending money on things you'll have no return on? Then this is the perfect opportunity for you and your Benjamin Franklins! With our services, you can make two broke students into incredibly rich people, maybe even making them the new Bill Gates? Who does not want to be Bill Gates' friend? Exactly, no one.
Who would the new Bill Gates be, you ask? Good question, we can already see a smart investor in you! Jorrit and Taylor of course! One a future clinical psychologist and the other the next discount Gordon Ramsay.
On a more serious note, why do we need funding? To explain that, we should probably properly introduce ourselves. Our names are Jorrit and Taylor (as listed above). We have been in a long distance relationship of 3,927.93mi/6,321.39km, or from the Netherlands (Jorrit) to Michigan (Taylor). We've originally met online but have known each other for over three years now. The relationship has lasted 10 months as of 11/09/2019. We've met up in person three times so far, each being better than the last. Unfortunately, saying goodbye also gets harder at the same time and the uncertainty of when we'll see each other next can be quite saddening at times.
Truth be told, we are having some financial difficulties financing trips for our long distance relationship. While things are definitely not dire, we are living paycheck to paycheck. We're both studying at the moment, but also have jobs on the side trying to raise money for tickets and such. While expenses have been mainly focused around passports, (the cheapest) flight tickets, doing things when we're together et cetera, there are also bills to pay when we're apart. Jorrit lives on his own and pays everything for himself, including rent, university, food, electricity and more. Taylor still lives at home but has to pay for college, car, -- At the moment we're planning on seeing each other again in November, but due to the financial uncertainty, we're not sure if that's still going to happen.
Besides general travel, plans for moving have been made. Taylor is thinking about moving to the Netherlands to study abroad so we have more time together and it being a nicer place for her to do her education. Of course, moving overseas adds extra expenses for visa, tickets with baggage fees and transfering to a new college. However, this would be cheaper in general after the move as plane tickets would be unnecessary. At the moment talks are being held about the exact amount necessary to make a move possible, but any donation helps regardless. We're both very driven to be together and won't let distance stop us, this would just quicken the process.
Just wanted to say we appreciate it if you have made it this far. It is young love, but unfortunately like many, we weren't born with money trees in the backyard.
Growing up in Detroit has been an eye opening experience, however, paying expensive healthcare bills for therapy, community college, and tickets have been very rough for Taylor. She would love to study abroad in Utrecht but the thing is, There is some worry about finding a job in the Netherlands because becoming completely broke is the last thing we want. Taylor doesn't mind being a dishwasher (her words), and funding honestly was the last option we thought of, but we figured there might be someone who can understand young love, and maybe can help us grow.
Having said that, there is no implication to actually donate. If you cannot afford to lose money, then don't. Neither of us want our relationship to be built on misfortune, but if you have a hole burning in your pocket and want the money to go somewhere ethical and wholesome, then we would be happy to accept (with a thank you note if the site allows it =) ).
If you have donated and are curious about how things are going, or just want updates; if this is in any sense succesful we'll make social media on which you can follow our road.
Thanks for reading, and you have our sincerest gratitude if you donated something to the cause,
Jorrit & Taylor
