My Travel Story

after deciding that i wanted to major in environmental science in college, i realized that taking a gap year could benefit me greatly. volunteering is something i wanted to incorporate into this year to give me experience with doing manual labor to work toward rebuilding the Earth. not only would it allow me to be an active part of the solution, i think that it would give me a deeper appreciation and understanding of the subject that i intend on studying. i am passionate about this particular project because deforestation is an issue that i think is not attended to enough. this is just one of the matters contributing to the deterioration of the planet, so working to rebuild it is something that excites and inspires me. when i was planning the volunteering portion of my gap year, i thought "why not do it in the largest rainforest in the world?" i think that this area of the planet is one which needs a substantial amount attention and care. this is meaningful to me because i think that, not only would it give me experience in the field i'm going into, it contributes to a greater cause. lastly, i hope that this project with provide me with a new perspective, both on life and of the world.
