Funding Proposal for Promoting Tourism in Africa Photography
My Travel Story
I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to seek funding support for my upcoming photography project, which aims to promote tourism in Africa, specifically in South Africa. I am a freelance photojournalist with over a decade of experience, working with renowned international agencies like Getty Images, Agency France Press (AFP), and AP (Associate Press). Additionally, I contribute to various newspapers, including the Sunday Times, Mail and Guardian, Amabhungane, Daily Maverick, Sunday Sun, Daily Sunday, and Independent Newspapers.
I am the founder of Aluta Continua Media (PTY) LTD, an 8-year-old media company based in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal.
Project Overview: My long-term project will focus on showcasing the tourist attractions in all provinces of South Africa. South Africa is a country rich in natural beauty, history, and culture, and I am passionate about using my photography and multimedia skills to highlight these treasures. The project will include visits to iconic landmarks such as the Nelson Mandela Capture site, Robben Island, Limpopo Tourism, Gauteng Tourism, Cape Town Tourism and Eastern Cape Tourism and other prominent places in the country. It will involve capturing high-quality photos and videos, including aerial shots using a drone, and will be exhibited in Durban once completed.
Funding Needs: To successfully execute this project, I require funding for the following:
1. Travel Expenses: Funding will cover transportation costs, including hiring a car for travel between provinces and within cities.
2. Accommodation: Support for lodging expenses, which will include stays in Air-BnB and Booking.com accommodations during the project.
3. Access Fees: Funds to gain access to tourism landmarks, museums, and attractions, ensuring I can capture the essence of each place.
4. Equipment Maintenance: Maintenance and upkeep of photography equipment, including the Canon 5D Mark 3, 850D Canon, and lenses. I need prime lenses, 4k drone, MacBook air (2022 model) and tripod.
5. Marketing and Exhibition: Promotion of the project through local radio stations, non-profit organizations, and a gallery exhibition in Durban upon completion.
