My Travel Story

Hi! I'm Mia, I'm from Memphis and this opportunity is a dream of mine. I was able to spend 2 weeks abroad last year and after I decided I wanted to return as an intern. I'm a senior in college, majoring in Film and Video production. I'm passionate about film, about the power and art of storytelling, it is something dear to me and international film has always been a crucial part of my love for film. I decided to pursue this internship opportunity because, I hope to one day work in the British Film Industry. The British film industry is home to so many of my favorite films, and I see the United Kingdom as a place where independent film can thrive, and the quality of your art can shine. I plan to use the skills I learn abroad to highlight my community, I come from a very poor neighborhood, underfunded and riddled with crime, but despite that I see the beauty in it. I want to showcase it through my lens, the shaken beauty of my neighborhood. I want to do this because I'd be the first in my family to take on something so seemingly grand and larger than life, to leave the country and begin to plant my roots somewhere else. It's important to me to be all that I can be and bring the world back home to my family who may only ever see it through a screen. Donating to my campaign will help me achieve these goals and to grow as a professional and as an artist.
