An experiential learning study-abroad program in Nepal, home of the highest mountain peak, and the birthplace of Gautama Buddha!

Leadership and service take various forms and are affected by many things including culture, economic opportunity, and governmental structures.
Using Nepal as a case study, I will be applying what I learn in class to the current environment and society in Nepal. I will get to experience the beauty of this unique country through:

Walking tours of Kathmandu and the medieval city of Bhaktapur
Service projects impacting the local community
Visits to local schools, universities, and governmental agencies
Traditional meals, arts, and entertainment
Tours to Boudhanath, Pashupatinath and Swayambhunath Temples
Hindu and Buddhist pilgrimage sites in the mountains of Pharping

The itinerary includes Sagarmatha Children's Home, the Taragaon and Patan museums, Golden Gate College, Blue Waste 2 Value (a recycling company), Kathmandu City Hall, the Panauti career training program, and the Disability Services Center.

I am completing my Bachelor's in Psychology at University of Mary Washington (UMW), with a minor in Contemplative Studies. My plan is to eventually get a Master's in Social Work. I have participated in other international service projects in the past, in Mexico and the Dominican Republic. But Nepal.. will be the trip of a lifetime!

Please help fund this amazing opportunity!!!
