My Travel Story

Since I was a child, I have had a passion for helping others! For as long as I can remember my summers were spent at a local summer camp volunteering in any way possible. I started as a Janitor and slowly became more involved until I was a Cabin Leader, this desire to help others influenced my life greatly. I began pursuing a degree in Occupational Therapy when I realized that although I love Occupational Therapy, my passion lies abroad and in Teaching! Next year I will be starting my Education degree and this program is a fantastic opportunity to introduce myself to my dream career and make a meaningful impact.
I chose the Guatemala location and the Teaching Program specifically as I genuinely believe it will provide lasting benefits and improve the lives of many disadvantaged individuals. Being able to speak English is a luxury in Guatemala and creates many opportunities for the locals that they would not have without speaking English. Individuals in Guatemala experience great suffering due to poverty, malnutrition, violence, and illiteracy. The ability to speak provides jobs and income to the citizens. Everyone deserves to be happy and by reducing the barriers this becomes more attainable. 
This Program will change not only my life but the lives of may Individuals. By supporting me, you are in turn supporting others.
