My Travel Story

Hi everyone! As I approach my final year at the University of South Carolina, I will be studying abroad in Costa Rica this summer to complete one of the few courses I have left for my degree requirements. 

This experience will give me the opportunity to immerse myself in another culture and develop my communication skills. During my time abroad, I plan to volunteer at a local clinic or an animal shelter to help out in the community. I chose this destination because of the opportunity it provides to get to know a culture that is different from my own. It will allow me to come out of my shell and force me to be open to new experiences. I am planning to become a doctor, so having the opportunity to immerse myself in another culture and learn the spanish language will be great for me as a healthcare worker. 

This experienece will hold a lot of meaning to me. This is something I have dreamed of doing since my freshman year of high school. It will also allow me to work on my spanish speaking skills since I will be staying in a homestay. This will just make it 10x as meaningful. My goal is to be able to hold a conversation in Spanish upon my return to the United States.
