My Travel Story

by: Vidya Mahadevaiah Start Date: Apr 24, 2020 - End Date: Jun 22, 2020
My name is Vidya Mahadevaiah, I am  from India stduying final year student in Finance at the Latrobe university. In 2018 (my first year) I was funded partially by a loan and the other two thirds by family. At the end of my second year in 2019, all my fees were still unpaid. The student loan that I took out had not yet paid by the end of February 2020. Eventually, the loan paid but it only covered 1/3 of the debt. Since the debt is so large I have been unable to register. My father, my sponsor encountered some financial challenges as we are four children in family. I am temporarily accommodated at a UCT residence because I run the res tuck shop in partnership with another student, to help contribute to my upkeep and tuition. However that has been suspended due to the Corona outbreak. The donations will be used to secure accommodation and access to registration.

I am determined to complete my degree in Analytics. I have a passion for the betterment of people. My vision is to one day open a rehabilitation center for homeless people that enables them to be reintroduced into society, educated and counseled. I believe that every one stands a chance to get out of generational poverty. Thus I am appealing to you to help my dream come true, I am not on this earth for myself but I do believe just as you are helping me, I am here to help the next person. The completion of my degree will enable me to carry out this exploit.
